India on Tuesday strolled to the final of the 2020 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup with a 10-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan.

In what turned out to be the first-ever 10-wicket win in knock-outs of a U-19 World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century as he and his opening partner Divyaansh Saxena helped India chase down the set target of 173 runs without losing a wicket.

“It is a dream come true for me. Really happy with what I did for my country, I can’t express it in words. I’ll never forget that I scored a hundred in the World Cup against Pakistan,” the ‘Player of the Match’ Jaiswal said after receiving his award.

“It is just the start though, I have to work really hard in the future as well,” he added. The southpaw is also the current leading run-scorer of the tournament.

From Panipuri seller to top run-scorer in World Cup

Belonging to a very humble family in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district, Jaiswal has in the past sold panipuri, worked at a milk dairy, among other part-time jobs to survive after he moved to Mumbai for his training. And now, his hard work has paid off.

Not only Sehwag, even former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman lauded Jaiswal’s batting effort in the U19 CWC semifinal against Pakistan.

So wonderful to see the composure of young Yashaswi Jaiswal and the relentlessness of the bowlers to just not let the opposition get away. A very easy win for India and a 3rd Successive World Cup Final appearance. Best wishes to the boys for the big finals #INDvsPAK pic.twitter.com/VUyaBR9i6j
