The quarter-finals of the 2020 Australian Open between Roger Federer and Tennys Sandgren is the kind of match that gets written down in history. After the second and third sets (6-2, 6-2), anybody could bet that Federer would lose. However, according to The Guardian, the game changed its course when the fourth set ended in a tie-breaker.

With an incredible turnaround, Roger Federer managed to save 7 match points, dominating the final set 6-3. He won 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3, reports Forbes, and paved his way into the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

In an interview after the match, Roger went on to express that he got “lucky” and “didn’t deserve” the win. He said:

“I got incredibly lucky today. As the match went on I started feeling better and the pressure went away and I just tried to play. Again, got a little luck to get the break. I think I served really well for most of the match, especially in the end. I don’t deserve this one but I’m standing here and I’m obviously very happy.”

People on the internet are rooting for Federer and are calling him “humble” and the “greatest of all time”. Have a look:

“I don’t deserve this one, I am very very lucky”

GOAT and this insane humility.

Reason why I love #Federer so much is not just his tennis but what he is as an overall person – on & off court ❤️ https://t.co/aMETX5oxxr

For his next trick, Roger Federer will be chained, placed inside of a chest and dropped into the Yarra River and will attempt to escape from that … #AustralianOpen
