have got some vital leads on identity of the masked persons who were seen indulging in violence on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on Sunday, according to government sources.
“A lot of positive efforts are on to identify the masked persons behind the violence. The case should be cracked soon,” said a senior officer.
As per sources, three cases relating to JNU violence have been registered by the police. However, there have been no arrests so far.
Meanwhile, inputs of large-scale mobilisation of students and teachers on JNU campus had the police on extra alert on Wednesday.
Violence had broken out at the JNU on Sunday night as a group of masked people armed with sticks and rods attacked students and teachers and damaged property on the campus, prompting the administration to call in the police.
At least 35 people, including JNU Students’ Union president, Aishe Ghosh, were injured in the violence in the university. They were admitted to AIIMS trauma centre and Safdarjung Hospital and have since been discharged.
